Pierre Ponnelle Pinot Noir is made with 100% Pinot Noir grapes. 10% of the grapes come from Burgundy, 10% from the Loire and 80% from Languedoc, specifically Carcassonne, an area well suited for Pinot Noir cultivation as it is a cooler area. The grapes from the south contribute a lot of ripe, red fruit and spice to the mix, while the Loire gives a great acidity. Burgundy brings acidity, complexity and a Burgundian character to the wine. So an affordable Pinot Noir, made by a winemaker from Burgundy, that tastes of Burgundy.
